Sleeping Wolves
03:34
|
|||
I tiptoed around her softly
to let sleeping wolves lie
I did not wish to wake her
so I wrote down my goodbyes
I left her lying peaceful
by the riverside
I laced my boots up softly
to let sleeping wolves lie
Hand caressed her body,
lips left kisses on her eyes
I crept out the backdoor
and turned out the light
I packed my things up softly
to let sleeping wolves lie
Awake I tried to shake her
to tell her my goodbyes
I walked out the front door
and turned out the light
I brewed my coffee softly
to let sleeping wolves lie
I dropped a glass here and there
to see if she'd bat an eye
I slammed the front door
screaming my goodbyes
I stomped my boots round softly
to let sleeping wolves lie
A stone wild and jagged
could not cut through her hide
I left her body lying thirsty
by the riverside

Feather In Hand
04:50
|
|||
Lord knows it's gonna be a long way home
for at least the next few steps
I've been what I've been and I am what I am,
I take it with a feather in hand
Hey there friend, my feet are stuck on this coast,
I got a long way to breathe in
I'm doing my best, you know I'm making the most,
I hear you're doing the same
You sing from down south, a smile across your mouth,
you like life better down there
Well I ain't found mine,
I trust I will in good time
Lord knows it's gonna be a long way home
for at least the next few steps
I've been what I've been and I am what I am,
I take it with a feather in hand
With the long road ahead I figured I best depart,
wasn't going nowhere as I stood
But walking along the shore, your words were etched my heart,
painted into that sweet driftwood
Do I play your mind like you do mine,
does this feel like a trial?
I stood there sinking in the sand
with my feather in hand
Lord knows it's gonna be a long way home
for at least the next few steps
I've been what I've been and I am what I am,
I take it with a feather in hand
Hey there friend, my feet can dance on this coast
if my heart would just give in
The music's all around, I'm starting to love the sound,
but I ain't found the beat just yet
And even though my toes are tapping to the band
I find I'm still waiting on your hand
But it's long gone
I best be dancing on
Hey there friend, when will I see you again,
the time here passes slow
I want you to know that I love you so,
you can take that wherever you go
And Lord knows it's gonna be a long way home
for at least the next few steps
I've been what I've been
and I am what I am

Sink With Us
05:06
|
|||
Take hold of a stone and sink with us
Hold your breath a while, and then give up
The water will take you home
Take hold of a stone and sink with us
The forest falls apart under her feet
Breathe her potion in and go to sleep
The water will tell you what you are
The forest falls apart under her feet

Venom
04:28
|
|||
Icy sweat and fiery chills
keep me up in bed
I toss and turn and scream
to drain this venom from my head
The pressure's building, the poison spilling
down into my lungs
The acid's pushed up against my teeth
and rolling down my tongue
And this fever's burning like a whisker from the sun
Now my heart is where this venom starts,
brewed deep within
The elixir's made of sparkling jade
next to its toxic twin
Now when my heart beats and I stomp my feet
I can mix that sacred gin
But I keep that elixir sparkling pure
to share with all my friends
And I'm left with all the shadows and the venom and the sin
And it boils up to my brain and burns a hole in my head
What to do when that poison brew
boils into my skull
The shadow being stirs from sleep,
its edges getting dull
My thoughts they plot and rust and rot
and poke that shadow's skin
My thoughts they burn and they twist and turn
and the shadow wakes within
That shadow is my spirit and that venom is my friend
I drink down that sweet venom til the bottle's at its end
And it boils up to my brain and burns a hole in my head

Awake
05:32
|
|||
If you'd wake
around my fire,
I would speak no welcome home
Held hands,
a warm smile
would say you're back where you belong
